Still reporting from the Heard Natural Science Museum and Sanctuary, here we have some suntanning Red Eared Slider Turtles, in the native North Texas Wetlands.
These turtles like to suntan to raise their body temperatures, because their bodies can not produce internal heat on their own.
Here is a picture of my mom on Big World Assignment in the Wetlands. I am glad she was not slacking off on this assignment, like she sometimes does!
These Turtles are just like me, because I like to suntan too!
The Wetlands are ephemeral. This is a fancy word that means this area fills up with water from the fall and spring rain, but then dries up in the summer months.
For a small LadyCat, I sure am smart, don't you think? Heh heh, I like using big fancy words.
